Leadership on energy through significant emission reductions, modeling energy efficient buildings, and educating the future renewable energy experts of B.C.
The B.Cc Government, through its CleanBC plan, is committed to lowering climate-changing emissions by 40% by 2030
Under B.C.鈥檚 Carbon Neutral Government (CNG) program 鈥 legislated under the听听 and the听 (CNGR). All provincial public sector organizations (PSOs), including Camosun College, must be carbon neutral.
PSOs follow a five-step process to achieve carbon neutrality:
- Measure听greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from buildings, vehicles and paper use.
- Reduce听emissions by lowering fossil fuel, electricity, paper and refrigerant consumption.
- Offset听remaining emissions by purchasing high-quality, made-in-B.C. carbon offsets.
- Report听annually through the PSO Climate Change Accountability听Report (PSO CCAR).
- Verify听data and emissions.
The CCAA and CNGR require that all PSOs prepare and make public an annual Climate Change Accountability Report, documenting their organization鈥檚 emissions and offsets, the actions they have taken to reduce emissions, and their plans to reduce future emissions.
