My healthcare professional career started in Toronto where I attended Humber College and graduated as an Ambulance Attendant in 1987.  I worked as an Ambulance Attendant in the Metro Toronto area for 3 years before pursuing a career in nursing.  I enrolled in the combined Camosun College and University of Victoria nursing degree program where I graduated in 1996 with my BSN with Distinction and went on to work on the general surgical units in the Victoria area. 

Continuing my education at BCIT, I achieved an Emergency Nursing Specialty Certificate with Honours in 1998. I then moved to the ER where I spent many years.  In 2006, I began teaching in the Nursing department at Camosun and in 2010 became the Year 2 Program Leader. In 2017, I completed my Master of Health Studies from Athabasca University and was appointed Associate Chair of the Nursing department in 2018, the Chair of the Nursing Department in 2019, and the Associate Dean of HHS in 2023.
