What鈥檚 the difference between foundation program vs apprenticeship?
Two programs

Electrician

Construction Electricians deal with complex electrical systems in a wide range of settings.听 Daily tasks include your coordination and math skills, as you install, commission, test, maintain and service operating electrical systems and equipment.

The demand for housing and new construction is in high demand Canada-wide. Construction electricians are highly skilled and听deal with complex electrical systems in a wide range of settings.听听

Red Seal tradespeople are certified across Canada, allowing you to work anywhere in the country.

Vancouver Island's largest provider of trades training.

Take your skills and training to the highest standards as an apprentice to complete your Red Seal Certification.

As a sponsored apprentice, you'll receive on-the-job practical skills from your employer. At Camosun, you'll develop your skills in communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, mathematics, and safe work practices.

Four levels of electrical apprenticeship certification

You'll be in school about once a year to complete听a level of in-school theory听to provide balance for your on-the-job practical experience. Each level of training is听10 weeks听and includes a听.

Financial assistance

Apprentice Employment Insurance

Apprentices should apply for听Apprentice EI (Service Canada)听financial support before the start of the program and up to 4 weeks in advance. Late applications may result in Service Canada denying funding.

Let's get you started

Camosun accepts applications to apprenticeship technical training programs听year-round.

To apply you must have:

  • A听registered employer who will sponsor and train you and;
  • A valid SkilledTradesBC registration number.

An apprentice听must be sponsored听by an employer听who is听registered听at SkilledTradesBC. If you and your employer agree to enter into a contract for an apprenticeship, either of you may contact听听to register you as an apprentice.
